Who is Too Lippy?

Truly One of Bedford’s Finest, Too Lippy is an up-and-coming rapper who first began his YouTube channel in February 2021 and has been steadily gaining popularity since. This year has been especially eventful for the young star, releasing a number of tracks and featuring as an artist in the Original Culture Festival.

How did Too Lippy get started?

Very recently, Too Lippy completed his education at Mark Rutherford Secondary School (or ‘Marky’ as he refers to it). As previously mentioned, it was during this chapter of his life that he began his YouTube channel which has since racked up almost 500 subscribers and a combined total of around 12,000 views. Alongside gaining popularity on Spotify (with roughly 70 monthly listeners at this present time), Too Lippy seems to have created a strong network of supporters through creating TikToks with his friends and supporters at Marky.

Too Lippy’s growing success

Not soon after the release of the much anticipated single O.O.B.F (One of Bedford’s Finest) in March, Too Lippy was invited to perform at the club Mist Bedford. He described this experience as one of the greatest nights of his life, finding it fascinating that people actually knew his lyrics and slogans. This seemed to be an important moment in his career, highlighting the fact that he does indeed have very real fans and supporters!

That’s not all for Too Lippy! Not long after this, one of his songs was played on BBC Radio! Following all this hard work, Too Lippy was not finished yet. In the month of June alone, the young star’s single ‘Passenger’ was released along with his mixtape “They Say I’m Too Lippy”- which had been in the works for over a year prior. He explains that it had been a long journey, going from writing thousands of songs in his bedroom (pretending they were for an album!) to debuting his first ever mixtape. He credits his manager Tom in the Chamber, claiming he would not have been able to do this without him.

In the wake of his long haul journey, Too Lippy achieved the unforgettable experience of performing at the Original Culture Festival of August 2022. How mind-blowing it is, he comments, that his life has changed so much over the last year or two, but he welcomes the many more mountains there are to climb.

A more recent project including Too Lippy: featuring in a tribute song (What’s On Your Mind) to Fabio. Fabio was a Bedford barber who sadly lost his life to mental health. The song aims to raise awareness for men’s mental health.
