The Original Culture Festival was held on the 13th August 2022, as well as during the summer of 2021, at the Priory Country Park. With a group of amazing new DJs and artists, exploring various genres including Garage, R&B, Soul, Reggae & more, these events were hugely successful- nothing like Bedford has ever seen before!
Finally, those in Bedford do not have to travel further afield to experience a top-of-the-range music festival including food & drink, dancing and of course, music! With a range of artists including big names such as Kenny Allstar as well as talented up-and-coming stars such as Terence Northover, there was not a set to be missed at the Original Culture Fest.
DJ Rhino
DJ Rhino (also known as Rhino Selekta or Rowan Forrester) co-founded this spectacular event. Devastatingly, Rhino was one of the many lives taken by Covid-19, on the 15th August 2021. This was a mere two weeks before the first Culture Fest was due to take place, meaning he never got to experience his own event.
Those close to Rhino admired his very intense interest in music, involving different genres, their origins & evolutions, how one style could influence another and much more. This led to him becoming a DJ in his teens, then going on to hold many successful night clubs as well as an outdoor event in Luton. This inspired him to create something on a larger scale.
The Events
Being the perfect mixture of music, sunshine & summer, the Original Culture Festival was the perfect place for over 18s to enjoy impressive and passionate stage performances. A great way of supporting the incredibly talented local artists as well as local businesses, last year the Original Culture Festival had several stalls set up including food, refreshments and even hair cutting and face painting! There was truly something for everyone, provided by Bedford’s small, local businesses.
Celebrating the original cultures & evolutions of the different artists and genres of music was something very near and dear to Rhino. To add, the festival aided in promoting Bedford as a cultural destination. Come out and enjoy the music! Keep up with the Original Culture Fest website and social media to discover any future events.
